Windows 7, Vista, and XP compatible; 8 Alesis High Definition Mic. IO 14 & iO 26 - Macintosh Drivers. Hello everyone. I just joined. How are you all? So, my iO 26 has been running fine for a week, then yesterday, I had no sound coming through it while in.
I have the same interface and had the same problem. You'll have to use the old Alesis driver package.
(3 Alesis1394Audio1.5d0.pkg) They are having issues with the latest mac driver update (3 Alesis1394Audio1.5d4.pkg) Go to the Alesis support page for the i/o and download their update package. Here - Run the Alesis Clean app, then reinstall the old driver (3 Alesis1394Audio1.5d0.pkg). It should work fine after making the appropriate settings on your mac System, and Audio Midi setup, and your DAW software. Good luck null Oct 27, 2007 7:26 AM. I think I may be also having this problem. Cashcode bill acceptor manual. But, my computer does see the unit but thinks I have a new MacBook Pro OX 10.4.10 I can get levels on the IO/26 if the unit is pluged in with its own power unconnected to the mac or with the firewire interconnect, until the computer fully boots.
Then I get no levels on the IO/26. The yellow fire wire and green sample rate lights stay on. Any levels on the unit when it was plugged into my lap top. It was determined I had a defective unit. However, the replacement is doing the same thing. So, I suspect there is something the fellow from support missed. My customer No.

Then I get no levels on the io/26. The yellow fire wire and green sample rate lights stay on. I have reloaded the new drivers from the website (we did this on the prior support call) The computer sees the IO/26 in all the windows for settings I checked.
The only thing I can find that doesn't make sense, is under system preferences, Sound, inputs 'choose a sound input' it has the option of Alesis 1394 port fire wire. When this is selected, it says 'the selected device has no input controls' mmm how can the unit have no input controls? I also don't hear anything in the headphones into the io/26 when I play a cd with the unit plugged in. Under sound output you get the message 'the selected divice has no sound output controls with the Alesis 1394 selected. I know the unit takes over all input and output. I have reloaded the new drivers from the website (we did this on the prior support call)but now I'll try the older drivers.
Alesis Io 26 Driver Update
I recently returned the first i/o 26 because my call to support failed to resolve this problem. I couldn't get any levels on the unit when it was plugged into my lap top. After an hour with support, it was determined I had a defective unit. However, the replacement is doing the same thing.
I suspected there is something the fellow from support missed. I hope this works. Oct 29, 2007 12:11 PM. You're welcome. Alesis was in denial about their new driver not working with intel Macs. Not sure if they really have a grasp on it yet. They haven't rectified this new driver issue despite my calls and emails to their support dept since August.
The old driver functions just fine on my intel Mac with 10.4.10. BTW, use the external power supply.Wait until the i/o has fully powered-up before connecting to your booted Mac. Also, connect (and turn on) your external Firewire drives and wait for them appear on your Desktop prior to connecting the powered-up i/o to your Mac. By doing so, you improve the stability of the i/o to 100%. Regards BB - Oct 30, 2007 8:47 AM. Thanks for the tips Bee Bee.
I would have been tempted not to use the external power, especially when recording on location. I spoke to a fellow from support this AM. He said he will make the engineers aware of the issue and will check out this site for issues we are having. He seemed fairly unaware that this issue was occuring. He said they were having big problems with apples recent update, but that it was other stuff. He said he had a mac pro right there working.
I forgot to ask if it was an Intel processor. I asked him was there any major thing I would miss by having to stick with the old driver? He said I can't do the firm wear update. The improvement that made was allowing separate control of headphone volumes from the master volume.
That would be nice. He suggested since it seems to be a 'systemic' problem I stick with the old driver as long as everything works. He recommended waiting until new driver comes out. Thanks again, S Oct 30, 2007 12:59 PM. Sorry to say but the posts I've seen here say unpleasant things about the io and Leopard.
This is more good and bad stuff about the io/26 than I have had time to read. Anyone buying this unit should read this.
Anderton does a great job of it. According to him, which have been verified by several folks I spoken to, is that the Intel macs have firewire port problems with digital interfaces in general. I would assume this is why using the IO's power supply rather than the firewire bus to power the unit solves some problems. Nov 1, 2007 5:23 PM.

Look Here: jimnorman Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Posts: 36 We found earlier this week that the new Mac OS 10.5 had an issue with our current Mac DICE II driver. Apparently audio output was not working.
We have been in development with a new Mac driver that solves the audio out problem, but we found that with Mac OS 10.5 that MIDI i/o isn't working. In order to support our customers during this transition we are offering a Beta driver on our web site for the io 14/26 and Firewire Mixers. If you have have updated to OS 10.5 and use our Firewire products the Mac Beta driver should help with your audio issues. I do not encourage users with earlier OS's to use the update since their MIDI i/o functionality will be lost with this update. We hope to solve the MIDI I/O issue in a few weeks.
