Hi there ata! Hmmm This does sound like a Windows fault rather than a device issue - can you try connecting to another computer? Freddy's nightmares season 2 episode 18 youtube.
It's a little difficult for us to diagnose without any real technical data. Can you tell us: - What version of Windows are you running?
- Are you in the administrator profile? - can you check your COM port profiles in Device Manager?
As we're not Microsoft Technical Accredited, there's not much we can officially advise, but if you can continue posting details and or even screenshots, then the community can get to the bottom of this! Daz eForum Team Want to give me some feedback? Hi, First post and this is to do with the 'Manging Sure Signal' portion of the Vodafone website rather than the hardware but to me it's all the same. When I go to add a user I get the error message shown below. Means nowt to me even though I've worked in It for the last 30+ years.! Is it a web site/Vodafone database error? Or an error due to some security measures I take on my system (running the Maxthon browser on XP Pro with all security patches - yeah, I know.).
Thanks in advance. @MattB: sorry for the delay but it's still school holidays and I had to confirm some mobile numbers and their service provider. Whether they were on Vodafone or not as I, I guess like most other people, have no idea unless told. The current state of play is this: 1) add a new Vodafone mobile number: seems to be working now. 2) add a new number NOT on Vodafone - the error message as indicated in my first posting occurs. 3) edit an existing Vodafone number and you get 'Sorry - we're unable to process your request right now. It won't take us long to fix this issue.
Please try again later.' So, to answer your question, 'sort of'.:-) 1 - obviously fine now. No idea why/what was happening previously. 2 - this is still a problem. There is NO way a user should see an error like this. It should be 'meaningful'.
It's no good saying it's 'not a Vodafone number' as, as I said, most people don't know. 3 - a new one. I have one phone number already added that hasn't got a name attached. I try to add the name and when you press 'Confirm' on the edit you get the above message. I'm thinking this is something to do with the fact that the saved phone numbersfor the SS are in '447xxxyyyyyy' format, that is international format of 12 digits. I'm sure on one of my earlier tests I tried inputting the number in 12 digit format and it said 'please use 11 digits' i.e. In this case the edit is trying to 'save' 12 digits so the web page is saying 'no, it must be 11' even though it's the 'web page' that has saved the number in this format (oh, the point is that you cannot edit the number!).
Hope I'm wrong about '3' as if I'm right it shows some fundamental software engineering flaws with Vodafone's systems. The person that called me tried to insist that as '1' was now fixed that there was NO reason to look at the issue and wouldn't be convinced that this was a fundamental customer service problem ( a 'non-user friendly' interface issue). The promised return-call from a manager I insisted on, and was promised, never happened.

Hi all, I have a Nokia E65 Mobile and I can't use it as modem. I have correctly installed Nokia PC Suite 6.84.10.4 on my Windows XP SP2 laptop. I have connected my mobile to pc by USB cable (CA-53), I can send/receive files to/from my laptop using Nokia PC Suite. My only problem is when I try to use mobile as modem clicking on 'Connect to internet' button, then Settings, I can choose from drop down menu the 'Nokia E65 USB modem' and in the nex one I choose 'Vodafone Italy' (I have a Vodafone contract and of course I'm in Italy).
Then when it tries to connect ('Connect' button), it prompts the following error: 'Impossible toe stabilish the network connection. Mobile has full 3G band and it's new.

When sending through her server is doesn 't prompt for a password so I can stop blaming Thunderbird. If you have two different servers that you expect to send mail through, then you will need two different SMTP servers defined in Thunderbird: one for when the user is on-site, and one for off-site.
This is not that easy to switch between in Thunderbird. I would suggest that you 're better off using your own server (with authentication enabled) in all cases. I have purchased a new Vodafone 541 handset from Barcelona ( Spain ), unlocked it and using it in India with Network provider Vodafone. Now after 15 days of purchase itself my touch screen is not working.
Internal work processing is carried out like time is changing regularly etc. Now the touch screen is not working that leaves me helpless to use this mobile. Another one thing this mobile comes in one year warranty so where can i claim the warranty as i am in INDIA right now.

Hello Since installing Vodafone Mobile Connect software on a PC for 3G USB dongle, my PC will no longer connect to my PDA using activesync. Vodafone Mobile Connect software v9.4.4.17702 Windows XP Service Pack 3 ActiveSync v4.5 PDA: Compaq iPAQ h3630 running Microsoft Pocket PC v3.0.11171 (Build 11178) If I uninstall the vodafone software supplied on CD with the USB dongle and then reboot, the device connects ok. If I install the vodafone software from CD again and then try to connect my PDA via activesync I get a message saying 'Cannot verify version of activesync on your device.
A firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version of ActiveSync on the PC' Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Hey all, I'm aware that this is a reccurring issue for a lot of people, but I've yet to find a definitive answer. Certain things seem to have worked for some people, but not all.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 on PAYM, including 3Gb of Wifi. So, to sum up: My phone notifies me that BT Openzone network is available.I connect to it.No apps can use the connection.I open a browser, and am presented with the BT Openzone login screen.I try every conceivable option, but I'm either told this is a business BT zone, or that my Vodafone username and password is incorrect (despite being able to log in with them on my PC).I also have the My Vodafone app which claims to connect me automatically, but seems to do nothing.
What do I need to do? I'm having a problem registering two phones to my suresignal. When I try I get the error message detailed at the bottom of this post. I've successfully registered other phones so I'm unsure why i'm having problems with these particular 2 phones. I've tried many times over the last 3 days but always get the error.
Can anyone please help? Many thanks, Paul. Hi, Just after registering for and installing the Messenger, and found I can't login to it! Is that some server issue, or is it my computer's fault (will try logging in from another location perhaps?), or is the product still in development? (Same for web version of the Messenger: can't login). Andrew Hi Andrew Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
The outcome is that the Vodafone Messenger service will be discontinued from today Friday 31st July 09. Only a small number of customers have used this service in the past so a decision was made to remove it.But if you visit the Email IM link on Vodafone live! There are other great services, very similar. Val Valerie Vodafone View team. Not a Vodafone customer yet?
Talk to Vodafone on Boards.ie. I've been given a Nokia Lumia 800 after I smashed my iPhone.
It was originally on Vodafone and still has some vodafone branded software on it. I put my T-Mobile SIM card in it and although it will make and recieve calls and texts, it won't connect to the internet. It also won't allow me to copy my contacts from the SIM.
I've been into both Vodafone and EE stores and both tell me that it's unlocked, so can't understand why I'm getting the issues. Can anybody help me solve it? I don't really want to splash out £400 odd on a new phone when I've got a lovely Nokia sitting here that won't meet it's full potential. Many thanks in advance, Stu. Hello I have some ebooks in.txt format on my 541.
According to the 541 PC suite, the ebooks appear to be in the ebook folder on the memory card, as on attached book.jpg. In PowerDesk (Windows explorer replacement), however, when I open the phone file system, the books are shown as being on the phone itself, and not on the memory card, as shown in files.jpg. If I add a.txt file to the ebook folder on the memory card (4Gb, 2.95 Gb free) as shown in files.jpg the ebook bookshelf does not pick it up.
If I move all of the ebooks from the ebook folder on the phone to the ebook folder on the memory card then the phone ebook bookshelf says Empty. If I move the books to the ebook folder on the memory card, how can I set the phone ebook reader to read from this card and not from the phone.
There seems to be no way of doing this in the settings. See best answer. Thanks for the reply. My query was that if I had ebooks in the eBook folder on the phone then the ebook bookshelf picked them up and I could read them. If, however, the ebooks were in the eBook folder on thememory card the ebook bookshelf did not pick them up. If I opened My files and navigated to the eBook folder on the memory card, I then had a list of ebooks and could open them. If I copied an ebook from phone to memory card then the ebook folder in My files for both phone and memory card showed two copies of the same file.
Since sending my first message, however, I have finally resolved the problem. I opened the ebook bookshelf, selected Options - Global settings and changed storage from Phone to Memory card. The bookshelf now shows a list of ebooks on the memory card. Hello all I have just started trying to add videos to my phone for viewing. To try it out I have a.flv video file which I have tried to add to the phone memory card.
I have added a 4Gb memory card to the phone, of which 3Gb is free according to my file manager. I open the Vodafone PC suite, select Files and multimedia, and navigate to the Videos folder on the memory card. I then select the.flv file, size 5.29 Mb and click the arrow to copy it to the memory card Videos folder. I then get a dialog stating Fail to upload files. Memory is full, Cannot write any item. The message area in the bottom right of the PC suite states File format unsupported by current folder. I then converted the.flv to an mpeg, also an mpg4 and had the same result with these.
Is it indeed possible to copy a video file from my PC to the phone, and if so, what format should it be in? I recently got the vodafone 541 and in the user manual it says, 'We prepare a PC suite for you, you can download it for free from the website.' I have looked but can't find it anywhere.
Can someone help me I'm the same, my daughter got the phone for Christmas and I wanted to download the pc suite for her for her music as I use Nokia Music for my N97 so had to use Window Media which was a pain! I googled it and it was suggested to search for the manufacturers website which is Alcatel. There doesn't seem to be an offical site and I was wary of downloading it. Just did a bit of googleing! I think this is what we are looking for! Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy Y andm odel number is GT-s3360.
I have £10 vodafone freedom freebees and you get about 250mb of internet with that, which I can't connect too via the vodafone UK network on my phone. Someone told me a while ago on here to go to Settings Wireless and networksMobile networksNetwork operators, wait for it to load and then select Vodafone UK. (Do I make sure I have the Use data packet and Data roaming checked too?) Once I've done all that, and I go onto the internet it says No connection. I have no idea why.
I can connect to the Talk Talk home modem on my phone but not the vodafone Uk network which I pay for. Vodafone gave me 250mb extra at easter and I can't use it cos it the vodafone network doesnt work. It's frustrating.
Does anyone have any advice? Hi Stella, As far as I’m aware there’s nowhere to get it from. Try going to my computer and see if it shows up as a removable drive. If it does, right click and press explore, there should then be a file ending with.exe. If there is click this and it might install. Other than that there isn’t much we can suggest as we already know of a Vista issue as Daz mentioned above.
You could check this in a second XP just in case the XP you’ve tried is faulty. However if it still doesn’t work in a second XP, then there may be a problem with the device. All the best, Jenny eForum Team. Hi, i have 2 win 7 ult.
One is using a vodafone usb 3G modem to connect to the internet. They both have gigabit nics. I tried using a crossover and now a straight cat5 cable, but both lan connection come up as unidentified network. Pc with 3G modem can connect to the net. When you look at network connections it says the following.(3G pc) vodafone mobile connect/work network/internet access unidentified network/public network/no network access -(other win7 pc) unidentified network/no network access/no internet access. Please advise. I have recently recieved a Sure signal box and set it up yesterday.
I have tried to add a new user after the first lot I had added and this appears. Hi Zsoltiy, A very warm welcome to the vodafone eForum from all of the team. You can get all of the latest Vodafone software releases for your Vodafone UK phone directly through our software upgrades page for your device. In regards any other versions, we would only recommend using the Vodafone UK version of software as we can not guarantee that any other versions will be compatible with our products and services, also and changes could invalidate your Vodafone warranty. For more information regarding your phone, check out our Vodafone 541 help pages.

Hi TKanaAmaterasu, Great to see that the guys have jumped in here looking to help you - thanks guys! With regards to the 'another program' issue happening when you connect this device, this is generally seen if the phone itself is running anything. Can you check the device to make sure every application is switched off for me, including anything running in the background? As soon as there is any change in the availability of new H1 firmware we'll be on the eForum to let you know. DaveN eForum Team I’m part of the Vodafone Tech Team and here to help.

Sometimes certain mail providers require a subscription service in order for to allow access on handsets. Retired moderator - please do not PM details to me, as I will not be able to respond. Following on from my first reply, I think that there may be a solution to the problem, if indeed there is a problem at all: When connected to My Phone Explorer (MPE) via USB cable (usually via COM 3 port), go to the Profile section of MPE and select UMTS only and click on Apply, thereby forcing your phone to only connect via 3G (something which you can't normally do with the Cedar).
After this, minimise the MPE connection and open up PC Companion (you can connect simultaneously to both these applications) and then you can be certain that the internet connection is 3G only, whatever PC companion is telling you, or not telling you.So, if your purpose is to use your phone as a modem for your laptop in 3G only, perhaps this will do the trick.Hope this helps. I have just bought a Vodafone 541, and on page 68 of the user manual reference is made to a PC Suite for the phone. Where is this suite? What is it called? Is it Vodafone 360?
I have bought a USB data cable to connect the handset to my pc but am only informed that it is a USB charger (???, possibly because I have not been able to track down and install the software) From information on the connector on the base of the phone is 'USB/Charger port - Used for attaching the phone to mains for recharging, connecting a headset or connecting to your PC via a data cable' 2. I have come across a reference that the phone may be used 'hands-free' but the user manual makes no mention of this and I have been unable so far to find any information.
Is this the case? If so, how does one enable this? Can anyone help? Hello all, Thanks for your posts on the eForum regarding the PC Suite.

We downloaded the PC Suite and it appears to have limited functions but what can anyone expect for £30! However - there is an upgrade button on the PC Suite which takes you to the Alcatel site which has an upgraded version of the PS Suite. Right - uninstall existing Vodafone 541 PC Suite.
Install Alcatel OT-708 PC Suite which does appear to have some new features. Problem - phone is Vodafone 541 and the Alcatel Suite does not recognise this phone. Question - why have the upgrade button which links to Alcatel if the new software does not know a 541 from a can of beans? Your comments would be appreciated.
Hi CharleyLima I would say this is down to bad design. Have you tried upgrading via the link here? What firmware version are you currently on?
The latest one is 6.3.18. You can check this by the steps below; Touch the Calls icon Enter.#06# The SVN (software version number) will show on the screen. Sukhi eForum Team The version we are using is 6.3.18 but from within that Suite, there is an upgrade button which directs you to version 6.3.23. And then the problems, as described in my original post, commence. Hi Roger Further to Daz's post i'm afraid there aren't any updating options that I'm aware of, there could simply be a compatibility issue with Vista. The drivers in question would be those of the handset itself, which it installs onto the operating system upon first connection. Since the problem does not replicate itself with XP i'm convinced this is a Vista compatibility issue.
Have you experimented on another Vista machine? Reidar eForum Team No, I don't have another vista machine. Hasn't this problem ever occurred on anyone else's laptop running vista? Regards from a1batman.
Hi Lizmint, welcome to the eForum! Let's see if we can make that a happy trip for you. Firstly, can you try dannym9's suggestion, let me know if that makes a difference?
If not, can you confirm the following for me? Firstly, what happens when you try to start the program?
Do you get an error message at all? Do the lights start on the modem? If the modem seems to start up before stopping, does any program show as connectimng at that point to a mass storage device? If so, can you disconnect this, as the program has misappropriated the dongle. Also, when the dongle is connected, how does it show in device manager and my computer?
Is it recognised as a dongle and if not, what is showing? Do you have a firewall program in place which is set to block without displaying alerts? If so, can you switch the alerts on just to see if this is blocking the connection software as soon as it tries to start? Finally, are you able to conect the dongle to another machine successfully? I'm sure we can get this sorted for you. DaveN eForum Team I’m part of the Vodafone Tech Team and here to help.

If the modem driver of the phone is properly working in Vista (lots of connectivity issues in Vista) if your provider is accessible you just dial the number(subscription) for access to the internet, the provider services be 3G, GPRS, etc, will provide the appropriate gateway. Dial-up access by this is costlier than a regular wired telephone line(POTS)! Message Edited by android on 15-Dec-2007 07:36 AM Knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted! Hello i have a vodafone 541 and when i try to connnected it to the computer by usb cable the computer detects a device but doesnt not found and driver (controller) for it. Ive already installed the vodafone pc suiter for this cell phone, i tried installing the driver manually and nothing. While installing theres was an error that said driver was not compatible with my system. But its not doing that eny more.
Driver installed and still not working. Computer has just been formated and all drivers are updated including chip set. Im using Windows xp sp3 home edition. Thanks in advance. Way back in February I updated my phone via the New PC Studio that worked though as we all know it didn't fix all the glitches The latest firmware is being released OTA My question is. Will everyone get this firmware OTA? Last time I never got a message or an invitation to download it was that because I updated via the NPCS Or should I have also got notification?
Also, because I am unable to get on the pc studio here at home can I get this in a Vodafone store? Steve From the vodafone Samsung H1 onto the Galaxy S now onto the stunning Galaxy S3Next step will be a 4G Phone and its a Sony Xperia Z3. Hi Paddy22, I can see that you have been in contact with my colleague in our customer care team and he advised that you need to remove the battery from your phone while switched on (or switch phone to airplane mode for 15 minutes) then switch back on. Have you tried this? I have an Inspiron 4100 so the Vodafone card is installed via a PCMCIA adapter. The V card appears as a composite USB device and as a drive (Drive E in this case) except that it does not appear all the time; the drive is appearing and disappering cyclicly. Upon first installing the card it loads VMC Lite software to pc and this resides on the C-drive. Very occasionally this software will start ok when the pc is started the Vodafone browser appears and I can get a connection. However the only reliable way of getting connected is to remove the VMC Lite software altogether from the C-drive and start again, including accepting the EULA. I've tried another Vodafone express card and other PCMCIA adpaters without benefit. Vodafone have been helpful but still don't know where the problem lies. Any ideas anyone what is happening here? Any ideas anyone what is happening here? I bought a VF 541 handset for my daughter about 9 months ago. The handset was only available in the vodafone shop on PAYG but at the same time i bought a sim-only deal on one of these 30 day contracts.
Ive since changed that to a 12 month fixed contract which simply reduced the monthly cost by £5 and got unlimited internet included. The contract is in my name not hers.
About 1 month ago my daughters phone went missing at school (she got it back within a couple of minutes) but i started to wonder how much it could have cost me if it wasnt found and some idiot started calling some high cost numbers so i started looking to see if i could get fixed dialing working. The phone has a PIN2 code but if i try to set it i get a 'not supported' error, but from what i can tell vodafone dont support fixed dialing on PAYG (which is what the phone was originally bought on) however the sim being used is not a PAYG sim but a pay monthly one so surely this should work? Is this a lack of support on the phone or is something just not setup right? Hi Ian, Unfortunately since the phone is only sold on a Pay-as-you-Go basis, it does not support Fixed Number Dialling. If you are worried about people making unauthorised calls with it, I would recommend setting up a SIM PIN instead. The handset will request a four digit pincode to be entered whenever the phone is switched on or unlocked, without which it will not be able to make outgoing calls.

You can find instructions on setting this up in our Help Centre Jon eForum Team Want to give me some feedback? Registered a new Sure Signal box the other day.
Works fine for my own number, but your website errors when I try to add users to it. I left it a few days and tried it again this morning. I get to the point where it re-lists the users and asks me to confirm their addition. Thanks Rodney, but as I noted at the end of my original post: Quote: 'Have already tried multiple browsers, clearing cache, logging out and logging back in again etc etc.' I have now discovered what the problem was. I was trying to add all the numbers what were on my old Sure Signal in one go. One of those numbers had since moved to a different provider and is no longer a Vodafone number.
So a simple pop-up would have done the job and would have saved much pondering and posting. 104 lines of error for what must be a common occurrence (even if only because of a typo when entering a genuine Vodafone number) is overkill in my book:-) Cheers, C12T. I've just switched sim cards from t-mobile to vodafone. On the t-mobile sim I could connect to the internet. Now with vodafone I can't. I just got confirmation that I have 500mb free of internet and 300 texts. It just says connection failed with vodafone live.
I can see two access points - vodafone live and vodafone internet GPRS. On the the home screen it does say 3.5G.Do I need to activate something?
I'm using Nokia c6-01. I heard I need some internet settings sent to me. Can it only be done my calling customer services, 25p a minute is gonna drain me no doubt.Thanks.
