How To Fix A Misfiring Engine
I have been tasked with fixing a friends ak47. Problem is its been weeks and i cant seem to find the problem. When i opened it (first time its been opened) I shimmed all the gears perfectly, replaced the piston and piston head (old ones were broken) and now it doesnt always fire, it almost sounds like a jam but im not sure.
In full auto it sounds really weird. Took a video of the problem but could not get the full auto to make the sound. When it doesnt fire it sounds like a thud instead of a typical snap. I'd check the hop-up bucking. My UMP used to shoot intermittently and once I replace the bucking and nub it shot great again. Seemed like the bbs were feeding into the hop-up ok, but they were getting lodged in the chamber. Wait to see if anyone has another opinion before you order one though as you might not have the exact same issue I had, and I'm not a master tech or anything.
