Of those returning, head coach Kim Evans is looking for senior leadership from Kaitlyn Stewart and Paige Yedinak. Stewart will alternate, as catcher or at third base. Yedinak will play first base.
Evans said she is happy with how the girls are performing. There are two sophomores this year, Jess Choplinsky and Morgan Sargent, who are doing well and will have pitching duties. 'The girls worked hard over the summer and the ninth graders are picking up fast and there is a lot potential for the future of the program' Evans said. The team is hoping to do well this season and make it to the state semi finals and hopefully win states. Striving for the state title. After having an undefeated season (22-0) last year, Perryville head softball coach David Ruark is hoping for another excellent season.
There are 10 returners this year and seven are seniors. The team has two starting pitchers that are back, Emily Phillips and Mara Little. 'It's huge to have them,' said Ruark. The team will be shoring up their infield and making changes to the line-up, after losing multiple starters to graduation. First and third base, catcher and short-stop remained up for grabs last week. 'We have all the pieces, now (it's) just putting (them) together. I have confidence in my team,' said Ruark.
Ultrabeat presets torrent. Elkton softball is looking to have a successful season. 'I plan to start off the season where I left it last year,' said head coach Amy Sexton. The Elks season last year was a year of rebuilding and restructuring the program. The team ended with a 5-14 record due to inexperience and losing four senior players to graduation. Moore expressed that he is working with the team to improve their plays, and to increase the players batting averages. 'We will take some bumps early on but by mid-season, (we) will be doing well.'
